Young Driver Course

The Norfolk & Norwich Group of Advanced Motorists is proud to offer a challenging four week course for drivers aged 17-25 who have recently passed their original driving test.

Week 1
This will be a general introduction to the aims of the course followed by some graphic images of Road Traffic Collisions on Norfolk's roads presented by PC Andy Warnes. You will then be taken out by one of our Observers who will give you some "hints and tips" for improving your driving skills.

Week 2
We will advise you about the Advanced Motorists System of Car control and how to be more observant in recognising potential hazards on the road. Also included this week is a detailed look at Bend Assessment. We will advise you how to properly assess a bend as to the speed and gear required to take it. Our team of observers will then put this and the newly learnt system into practice on the road.

Week 3
This is scheduled for a few "Do's" and "Dont's" about driving (to show you the dangers of drink driving, speeding, using a mobile phones, tiredness and not wearing seatbelts). Then we move on to Overtaking and after a short discussion we will, hopefully, be able to hand you over to our Class 1 drivers to give some practical demonstrations of overtaking.

Week 4
Week four contains your final assessment drive with one of our Observers, followed by a short 20 question multiple choice test. You should, all being well, then be handed a certificate which might entitle you to a massive 25% insurance discount from Norwich Union.
