The Norfolk & Norwich Group of Advanced Motorists was founded in 1966 to promote advanced driving techniques and road safety in Norfolk.
Since its inception, the Group has steadily grown until it is now one of the largest groups in England with 744 active members, 696 of which are members of the Institute of Advanced Motorists. At this time forty-five of these are voluntarily giving up their time to the role of Observer.
All Observers are trained within the Group and regularly take out Associates for observed runs in the pursuit of passing the stringent Institute of Advanced Motorists Advanced Driving Test. If you live in Norfolk and are interested in driving, why not join our Group and learn to become an Advanced Motorist. It is both interesting and rewarding and you would be helping, in no small way, to make our roads safer for yourself and others.
Members of the IAM have a greatly reduced chance of having a road accident. The independent Transport Research Laboratory states that the reduction can be as much as 75%. The group's main interest is passing on advanced driving skills to experienced motorists but in response to accident statistics, which indicate that young people are especially vulnerable, it started Young Driver Courses in 1999. This has proved to be very successful and worthwhile.
If you are a person who takes their driving seriously then why not join our Group?
